Pennant Walters

Sponsor Description:

Pennant Walters (PW) was formed in 2003 by Dale Hart and Martyn Llewellyn following a review of the Walters Group 22,000 acre Welsh land portfolio for renewable energy potential. By 2005 the group had identified three potential wind farm sites within the then newly defined TAN 8 strategic search areas (SSA’s) and subsequently made planning applications on all three following land assembly and environmental studies. PW’s first planning permission came in 2008 at Maesgwyn, a former open cast mining site, in Neath and Port Talbot CBC, followed by Pant y Wal in Bridgend CBC in 2009 and Mynydd Bwllfa in RCT CBC in 2011/12 with the sites built out and operational by 2011, 2013 and 2015 respectively. In 2009 PW acquired the permitted 27.5MW Fforch Nest site from RWE Npower, adjacent to Pant Y Wal site and built both projects out as one combined windfarm. Further permissions were gained at Maesgwyn Extension in 2015, Pant Wal Extension also in 2015 and Foel Trawsnant in 2020 with the former two sites becoming operational in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Currently, we are assembling land to enable new onshore wind sites within South Wales principally.
